Odlarföreningen i Biskopsgården

“Odlarföreningen i Biskopsgården” is a community garden consisting of 15 cultivation boxes and 15 cultivated plots surrounded by berry bushes. The cultivation is beautifully situated in a fruit grove between the residential buildings. Follow the cherry tree avenue from the church of Biskopsgården at Vårväderstorget, and you’ll find us!

About us:

We are about 40 members who share 30 cultivation slots and boxes. We grow one lot together.
The association was formed in 2011 and we could start growing 2012 thanks to plant support from Göteborgs Stad and the initiative Stadsnära Odling.

We also cooperate with several actors in the district: The housing company contributes with water and toolboxes.

The local church of Biskopsgården assists with meeting rooms, storage and support for the association, and the community garden brings altar flowers from June to October to the church.

Biskopsgården public library has it’s Swedish language cafes at the community garden during summer when the sun shines and the association has different cultivation activities and green book tables at the library.

In summer we organize free creative workshops for children and adults in cooperation with local NGO:s.

In addition to the cultivation, Bostadsbolaget has started its own cultivation boxes for its tenants and also established an apiarium – an pedagogical bee hive – managed by Beepartners.
